The Kaiser chiefs put on a first class show. I had the pleasure of watching a sold out crowd at the O2 ABC dance, sing and revel in a 1 hour showcase of the bands hits and a sprinkling of new songs from the bands new release. Frontman Ricky Wilson had the audience whipped into a suitable frenzy conducting the massed Chorus on songs like "Ruby" and "I Predict A Riot" The Show wasn't part of the bands upcoming tour but after a social media campaign the band put on this show. It will have, no doubt, served as an excellent warm up for the full tour. The meet and greet after the show was a bonus available to anyone who bought merchandise on the evening. I found the guys to be chatty and very personable. For a band who have been around for sometime now this is most refreshing as they happily chatted to the massed ranks and posed for pictures. Fast forward 3 days to another gig and something completely different. Jean Michel Jarre. It was a rare sighting of the french wizard. as he delivered a feast for both the ears and eyes. He was genial and ever keen to engage with an audience that started with polite applause and was dancing in the aisles by the end of the gig, much to the annoyance of the fun police at the hydro. The set delivered new songs from his electronica project. the largest cheer was for the track "Exit" Which featured a video clip of Edward Snowden. and then continued into his back catalogue. We were also treated to an excerpt of his newest work Oxygene '17 recorded to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the original album.
